Ascent Classical™ Academy announces location for K-12 charter school opening in Fall 2024

Ascent Classical™ Academy of Irmo is under contract for a 32-acre property located north of Koon Road between I-26 and US-176 in Irmo, South Carolina. 

 

The site will be developed in several phases over the next few years and construction will begin after the holidays.  

The school is authorized by the Charter Institute at Erskine and will be the sixth campus opened by its operator, Ascent Classical™ Academies, based in Golden, Colorado.  

A second South Carolina campus will open this fall in the Fort Mill area, southeast of Charlotte. Both campuses received the South Carolina Department of Education’s Planning and Implementation subgrant, awarding each campus $900,000 to aid in a robust opening.  

Ascent Classical™ Academy offers a proven academic model emphasizing a well-rounded education in the liberal arts and sciences integrated with daily instruction in moral character and civic virtue. The school seeks a disciplined and orderly environment through student uniforms and traditional classrooms that adjust each year from kindergarten where the teacher leads instruction to high school where students are active participants in learning through Socratic discussion.  

Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year is now open and interested families can join our interest list at irmo.ascentclassicalsc.org. In its opening year, Ascent Classical™ Academy of Irmo plans to serve grades K-8, adding one grade each year until reaching K-12 matriculation.
